Canoe Trip Details
Destination: Massasauga Provincial Park
Dates: August 21 - 24 2026
Costs:
· Canoe Rental, Park Access Fee, and Transportation: $195
· Deposit: $100 (Due via e-transfer no later than July 26th) E-transfer at donations@stoneycreekbaptist.com and include your NAME and “CANOE TRIP” in the notes section (otherwise they will not know and think it is a donation to the church).
· Additional Costs: Food.
Itinerary:
August 21
o Meet at SCB Church parking lot 5:00 am, depart NO LATER than 5:30 am
o Bring a bag lunch/snacks for the trip o Arrive at Massasauga Provincial Park (Three Legged Lake access point) around 9:30 am
o Pick up camp/parking permits, pack canoes, canoe to and camp at sites in Goose Neck Bay. We will be staying on these three sites: 604, 610 and 611.
August 22-23
o Remain at Goose Neck Bay, day trips, fishing, etc.
August 24
o Return to Three Legged Lake, leave park at 3 pm
o Arrive back at SCBC around 7:00 pm
Trip Details:
· The trip will feature fairly light paddling to and from Goose Neck Bay and two short portages (both ~300 meters) – one from the parking lot to the lauch and another between Three Legged Lake and Spider Lake.
· Once we have the final numbers, we will organize groups (3-6 per group) for tents, canoes, cooking, etc. If you have a preferred group, let me know.
· A list of suggested items below. Some items can be shared within groups.
Individual Items:
· Sleeping bag (wrapped in dry sack or plastic garbage bag to keep dry) – if not in dry sack/bag) Bring a few extra large garbage bags for backup.
· Clothing: T-shirts, hoody, shorts, track pants, swim wear (appropriate for weather, pack light – try to ensure clothes stay dry… it can rain, HARD).
· Towel
· Foot wear: regular running shoes or crock sandals (be prepared to take footwear off/on)
· Rain jacket (or poncho)
· Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
· Toiletries (biodegradable soap/shampoo)
· TOILET PAPER in zip lock or other waterproof bag
· Insect repellent (optional – there shouldn’t be many bugs in late August)
· Small headlamp/flashlight
· Eating utensils (small plate, bowl, cup, spoon)
Group Items (3-6 people):
· Tent (2-4 person capacity)
· Propane/butane cook stove and fuel (WADEO portable camping stove on Amazon ~$30, with 2 small green propane tanks per group – or something similar if fire ban in effect)
· Water purification – halogen tablets or some sort of filtration unit
· Cookware
· Lighter and/or sealed matches
· 20 ft rope to hang group food bag at night!!! This is a MUST.
· Tarp/rope (optional), but recommended since we’ll be staying in the same location several nights
· UNO cards, etc. for rainy afternoon J
Items NOT to bring:
- CANS or GLASS
- Nothing requiring electrical outlet J
Suggested Non-refrigerated Food Items (Lightweight and Easy to Cook):
Breakfast:
· Instant oatmeal packets
· Pop tarts
· Granola bars
· Dried fruit
· Powdered milk or milk alternatives, cereal
· Instant coffee or tea bags
Lunch:
· Tortillas or flatbread
· Peanut butter and jelly
· Canned tuna or chicken (in pouches)
· Cheese (hard cheese lasts for at least a week unrefrigerated)
· Trail mix
· Crackers, Pepperettes, Fresh fruit (apples, oranges)
Dinner:
· Instant rice or pasta (Knorr brand Sidekicks or something similar – you don’t need to use milk, etc. they taste great when made with water). Butter can be brought unrefrigerated.
· Ramen noodles
· Instant soup mixes
· Pre-cooked sausages will last the entire trip
· Hard salami or pepperoni
· Pre-cooked lentils or beans (in pouches)
Snacks:
· Energy bars
· Nuts and seeds
· Chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers or candy
· Hot Chocolate

Registration & Waiver
I hereby consent to my participation for the Young Adult Algonquin Canoe Trip August 21-24, 2026.
While every precaution is taken for the safety and good health, some activities carry with them the inherent risk of personal injury beyond the risks associated with many of the recreational activities at Stoney Creek Baptist Church. I understand and accept these risks and agree that by participating in these activities, I will be taking part in a recreational activity that presents risk for personal injury.
I authorize the trip coordinators or one of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church’s Personnel to sign a consent for medical treatment and to authorize any physician or hospital to provide medical assessment, treatment or procedures for myself.
I undertake and agree to indemnify and hold blameless Stoney Creek Baptist Church, it’s Personnel, it’s Directors and Board from and against any loss, damage or injury suffered by myself as a result of being part of the activities of the trip, as well as any medical treatment authorized by the individuals representing Stoney Creek Baptist Church. This consent and authorization is effective when participating or traveling during the canoe trip.
