It's a Good Thing to Celebrate the Good Things

Devotional | July 21, 2021

"It is a good thing to give thanks to the LORD,

to sing praises to Your name, O Most High."

(Psalm (92:1)

The Psalmist writes, "It's a good thing to give thanks to the LORD."  And it's a good thing to sing praises to His name, the Most High God.

It's a good thing to get our eyes off ourselves and the frustrations of living in this world and to turn our eyes upon Jesus, rejoicing in what He's done and continues to do.

It's a good thing to be still before the Lord and be reminded that He knows what He's doing even in times we can't see it.

It's a good thing to witness firsthand among us that not even the powers of hell can hold back God's hand as He opens the eyes of the spiritually blind and builds His kingdom.

It's a good thing to be reminded that nothing can separate us from His love.

It's a good thing to rejoice together in all these things in-person with our brothers and sisters in the Lord.

All of these things are good things.

And reasons to rejoice and be glad.

And these good things are what we want to celebrate this Sunday together.

We want to give thanks to the Lord for all He's done and all He continues to do as we celebrate new life in Christ with 5 people planning to publicly profess their faith in Jesus through the waters of baptism this Sunday.

We want to give thanks to the Lord for all He's done and all He continues to do as we come around the communion table together, re-uniting as brothers and sisters around the table of our Lord as we re-commit our lives to Him.

We want to give thanks to the Lord for all He's done and all He continues to do as we celebrate 13 new members that have joined our church family during a worldwide pandemic.

I hope you'll be able to join us this Sunday as we do the good thing of giving thanks to the Lord, singing praises to His name, and celebrating the Great Things He has done and continues to do!

"The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad." (Psalm 126:3)

See you Sunday!
